Truly a painful experience - The Pursuit of Happyness Reviews

This was one of the most depressing films I've seen in quite a while. Don't get me wrong, the acting was superb (Oscar for Smith), but the plodding depressing plot, and weak direction had me looking at my watch hoping the torture would end soon. It might be based on a true story, but the details were, in my view, quite contrived. Solving a Rubix Cube in a short taxi ride, showing up for a competitive interview without a shirt and covered with paint, getting invited to a CEO's box seat because he showed up at his door, losing/finding his stolen bone scanners at least three different times, and the constant running, were just some of the examples of "puhleez, you can't be serious" moments. Except for the ending, the movie was a real "downer." Not something I would recommend for a pleasant evening's entertainment and certainly not recommended for children.
