Having said that, make no mistake, Will Smith and his son are fantastic and the story is superb. But during the Christmas season, I especially look for a bit more uplifting... not just the 3 minutes at the end of the movie and a couple of postscripts prior to the credits. No one denies that poverty and dispair are more common than we would like but to witness them suffer through one setback after another was excritiating. And after the second landlord kicked them out, I almost walked out myself. But that does not take away from Will's performance. Now, run to United Way and make your donation.
